I’m so excited to share some photos of my new sample album from Laura & Shane’s wedding this fall! It’s absolutely stunning and it’s HUGE. 80 pages of brilliant images are perfectly bound with cork end paper in the front and in the back. The cover and matching slip case are a very soft black leather with blind imprinting. It’s stunning, but simple enough that their images are what stand out the most. Very cool!
Wedding Photojournalist Association contest win!
I’m excited to share this image from Eric & Yingli’s wedding at the Willows Lodge last spring. I just found out that it placed first in the emotion category of the Wedding Photojournalist’s Association. I was so excited to hear the news, particularly because WPJA contests have great judges. Many of the judges are top photojournalists from around the country. It’s a notoriously difficult contest to well in!
Check out what the judges had to say about my photo!
Sara & Travis | Wedding | Golden Gardens
Elise and I first met Sara when she was the maid of honor at Jeff & Jessica’s wedding last summer. For Sara and Travis’ wedding, everything was about making sure that the reception at Golden Gardens was a blast. Their ceremony was beautiful and simple. On the way to the reception we had time to stop in Ballard to explore for photos. To me, the highlight was the amazing sunset. One of my favorites from it is below. The dance floor was packed all night; so much fun!
Erin & Danny | Engagement | Tacoma
Exploring downtown Tacoma with Erin & Danny was so much fun! Tacoma is full of color and visual texture. We climbed under old bridges and through dark allies light be narrow beams of sunlight. Erin & Danny’s sweet and laid back personalities made the evening fly by.
Matt & Kate | Wedding | The Inn at Port Ludlow
Matt and Kate got married on a gorgeous day and had their reception at the Port Ludlow Resort. Before the ceremony, Elise and I were able to spend time taking portraits of them at the golf course. We all had a blast driving around the course among the casual players, taking great images and capturing moments of them alone together. The reception was a lot of fun too–everyone stayed after the venue closed and had an after party in the hotel commons room. Everyone was in the mood to have a great time with Matt and Kate. All in all, it was a great day!

Laura & Shane | Wedding | The Columbia Tower Club
I had so much fun with Laura and Shane’s wedding. The thing that struck me most about Laura and Shane is how relaxed and fun they are to be around. There was never any drama or tension, it was such a perfect day! Things started at the Arctic Club where I shot Laura getting ready. Next I headed down to their home where Shane and the guys were supposed to be getting dressed, but the Nintendo Wii got the better of the them! After the ceremony we headed over to Gasworks Park for photos with Laura, Shane and their bridal party. It was a pretty windy day, but the dramatic clouds made for great images. The reception at the Columbia Tower Club was awesome! The sun came of flooding the room with beautiful golden light. The great music from Brian Dale kept everyone dancing hard late into the night. It was so much fun!

Joanne & Travis | Engagement | Fremont & Gasworks Park
To say Joanne and Travis like to have fun is a bit of an understatement. We spent a few hours exploring Fremont and than headed over to Gasworks Park for sunset. Along the way we stopped by George and Dragon , the bar where they first met. I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding this winter at The Hall at Fauntleroy. I know it’s going to be a lot of fun!
Shanda & Justin | Wedding | Orcas Island
Shanda and her chocolate lab, Huck, met Justin in 2005 in Belltown. Four years later they decided it was time to tie the knot. Shanda is an accomplished member of the wedding industry in Seattle and owns an invitation and branding company, Pixel Soup. So needless to say, she already had a head start in planning their celebration! They opted for a private ceremony after spending a few days alone together on Orcas Island. I flew up on a Friday morning to spend the day with them, their officiant and a guitarist. I could not think of a more perfect location for their ceremony. Towering trees framed them as the stood on a point surrounded by water and mountains. After the ceremony, we spent a couple of hours exploring the island and making images then we boarded a plane back to Lake Union. The pilot was amazing and took use around the Space Needle, over the stadiums and past the water front before landing to be greeted by their guests on the dock of Lake Union Crew. The reception was nothing but fun, complete with ping pong, cupcakes, Thai food, and plenty of wine and beer. What an amazing day!

Anne Marie & Rob | Wedding | Woodland Park Zoo
Rob and Anne Marie are super relaxed but they both know how to have fun! It’s been a while since I’ve shot a wedding where guests had this much fun on the dance floor. After a ceremony in the Rain Forest Pavilion guests headed over to Jaguar Cove for drinks. From the shouts of excitement, it seems that the Jaguar was spotted. Than it was back to the Pavilion for dinner, toasts and lots of dancing.
One of the coolest things was Anne Marie’s flowers, they were absolutely stunning. So many different colors, but they all worked together and looked great!

At the end of the night, their close friends circled and cheered. Such a sweet moment!
