Aaron & Diep | Engagement

Aaron and Diep are pretty darn adorable together. We had a really fun shoot that started at the University of Washington. The cherry blossoms were at full bloom, so it was just about the most crowded I’ve ever seen it. We wanted to find some quiet places to shoot so we followed a path into the trees and found a really cool meadow where the light was just streaming in. In Red Square we also found some dramatic shadows that worked out great. The evening ended on the Seattle waterfront with a merry-go-round ride! I hope Aaron and Diep had as much fun on this shoot as I did!

Audra & Tristan | Engagement

I had so much fun hanging out with Audra and Tristan for their engagement session! We got lucky with great early spring weather. After we garbed a beer at Ivar’s we headed over to the University of Washington for a walk through the cherry blossoms. We spent a bit of time exploring fun locations around the UW, than headed to Gasworks Park so they could enjoy some wine while the took in the city view and sunset! What a great evening and from the pictures it’s pretty clear that they had a great time! They are such a fun couple, I know that their wedding this fall at the Pan Pacific Hotel will be nothing short of amazing!

Mike & Darlyn | Wedding | Woodland Park Zoo

Fire dances, swords, animals, ice luge and a crazy good time. Mike and Darlyn’s Woodland Park Zoo wedding was amazing! Mike is a bit of a celebrity and works at Penny Arcade. Their wedding is one of two featured in a video on PATV. Both Mike and Darlyn put an amazing amount of work into customizing their wedding and making it truly about them. One of the highlights included a custom sword that Mike wore during the ceremony and that they used to cut the cake. Before the toasts, Mike used a saber to open champagne! During the ceremony they did a traditional Scottish hand fasting. And instead of hyphenating or exchanging names, they both took Hayes as a new last name! You can read more about that here.

Bamboo Gallery Prints

We’re excited to announce a new product, Bamboo Gallery Prints! I just hung this 16×24 sample in the showroom from Derick and Marta’s wedding and I’m pretty darn excited about it! I really haven’t seen anything else like this on the market and they look amazing!

Derrick & Marta | Wedding | Olympia

Derrick and Marta had one of the most laid back and fun weddings that I’ve photographed. In the morning the guys hung out and relaxed near the waterfront ceremony site and the girls lounged around the pool. By the afternoon the tide rolled in, bringing the water just inches from the ceremony. Their vows were emotional and heartfelt. By the end tears had been shed and everyone was ready to cut loose on the outdoor dance floor! Enjoy the photos!

Peter & Quynh | Wedding Album

Designing each custom album is one of my favorite parts of my job. Albums are where everything comes together. They are are the way images should be viewed. Online galleries just don’t compare with the aesthetics or story telling ability of albums. There really is something special about holding your wedding images in your hands for the first time. It’s rewarding to know that my albums will be treasured and appreciated for many, many years to come. Below is an 11×11 Flush Mount album with a blind imprint for Peter and Quynh’s epic wedding this past summer.

I hope you enjoy a few of Lauren and Dana’s images. Their wedding was a total blast and I had an absolutely great time working with them! The thing about candid photography is that it really reflects the feelings and moods of its subjects. Lauren and Dana were a perfect fit for this approach to capturing weddings. Their guests were fun and relaxed. Their location was breathtaking. Their first sight was true and genuine. And their chemistry and joy was unmistakable. “My husband and I searched the GLOBE for a venue for our wedding, but finally decided upon Seattle, where we’d met and spent several years before moving back to the East Coast. However, in the course of our globe trekking, we’d fallen in love with a photographer’s work in New Orleans, so we knew the style we were looking for to really represent us. While searching out photos of our considered venues, I fell over Lucas’ blog on his website and we were hooked!! He did the requisite “staged” photos, but 98% of the shots from our wedding are exactly what we wanted – candid shots of our friends and family being themselves, but caught through the lens of a consummate professional such as Lucas, thus they were elevated to art!” – Lauren

Kate & J | Wedding | The Woodmark Hotel

Happy New Year! It’s time to start 2012 off with some great images. I’ve been waiting for just the right time to share some of Kate & J’s photos from their amazing wedding at the Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland. My favorite parts of the day included a stop in Ballard for drinks and skeeball at Kings followed by a few games of corn hole at Gas Works Park! I’m pretty sure Kate, J and their bridal party had a complete blast! The stunning church, sunset walk on the Woodmark’s dock, and the lively reception also led to some pretty killer photos!
